Due to the tensions in the Mediterranean region, after the “Arab Spring”, the European Union has tried to improve its foreign policy tools in the Mediterranean and has adopted new actions that aimed to face the illegal immigration phenomenon and to restore peace and security through motivating sustainable economic growth and promotion of democratic institution.
Within this complex and rapidly changing environment for the EU-Med, this book analyzes the effectiveness and appropriateness of the European responses to the illegal immigration through the Mediterranean.
