"The expanding reach and destructive consequences of violent extremism are among the major challenges to peace faced in today’s world. Violent extremism is a multi-factorial and extremely diverse process that cannot be predicted by one variable alone. It can be defined as: “A process by which a person to an increasing extent accepts the use of undemocratic or violent means, including terrorism, in an attempt to reach a specific political/ideological objective”.The purpose of this book is to gain a comprehensive insight into how the alignment of different factors, individual vulnerabilities and the environment drive individuals towards violent extremism.
