The constitution of Japan, a complete revision of the imperial Constitution, was enacted on May 3, 19447. This new Constitution proclaims that the people of Japan hold sovereign power with universal human rights and renounce war through the action of government.
Emperor is defined as “the symbol of the State and of the unity of the people, deriving his position from the will of the people with who resides sovereign power”.
The constitution has served as the foundation upon which a New Japan was reconstructed in accordance with the principles of democracy. It is a great honor that Dr. Habib AlBadawi, with his passion for scholarship in Japanese Studies, introduces the spirit of the Japanese Constitution to the Arabic readers.
The constitution was born from the devastation and deep remorse of the war striving for peace. I deeply pray that Dr. AlBabawi’s work may share the spirit of the Constitution with the people of the world as a “light” for the promotion and realization of permanent peace, justice, and democracy!...
