In this work, Edward Said analyzes the US political arena and US society, with regards to the position towards the Palestinian cause. His research demonstrates that there is an important difference between the stance of the political elite and that of civil society which is more receptive with regards to the rights of the Palestinian people. He argues that it is necessary for the Palestinian media and political movements to target US civil society to a greater extent.
