The book sheds light on the early days of the Arab oil industry and the circumstances pertaining to the birth of an oil intellectual awareness in the region by tackling the biography of one of the Arab oil industry’s founding fathers and one of the most important advocates of the liberation of the Arab national resources through fighting the foreign oil companies’ monopolization of the oil privileges in the Arab region. The author of this biography relied on information, documents, photos and analysis in order to document the biography of the first oil minister in Saudi history starting with his birth, his upbringing at his hometown, Al-Zulfi (in mid Saudi Arabia), his life course and movement in Kuwait, India and Egypt all the way to America where he graduated in 1948 AD. The author then exposed his professional march in the field of the Arab oil industry and him laying out the foundations of this industry through his long conflict with the foreign oil companies in addition to his essential role in founding the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, which allowed the governments to no longer be at the companies’ mercy. The author documented the phase of an Arab generation that produced the first Arab group of individuals who received their education in the West and returned, after gaining awareness, to confront the western hegemony over the national resources thus launching a long and close relationship between oil and politics. Al-Turaigi employed his efforts and political awareness to serve the causes of his Arab nation by brandishing his slogan, «The Arabs’ oil belongs to the Arabs», which then went beyond being a mere slogan to become a school and a headline for an economic plan with political dimensions and a plan that has a structure and practical reasons.
